The Bishop of Sheffield has suggested churchgoers listen to music by the singer Lily Allen as part of a Bible study course.

The course, which is in preparation for Easter, has been drawn up by the Right Reverend Dr Steven Croft.

The radio version of Lily Allen’s song The Fear – without expletives – is one of the songs recommended.

Dr Croft said The Fear’s theme of materialism captured a “certain spirit” of contemporary culture.

Dr Croft said The Fear, which starts with the words “I want to be rich and I want lots of money”, was suggested for groups to listen to if they wanted and would not be played in public worship.

“There is a pretty clear instruction in the book to group leaders to check out the lyrics first and to make sure that they use the version that is played on the radio, not the unexpurgated version,” he said.

Dr Croft recommends the song to churchgoers taking part in the five-week course He added that the song was “clever” and used interesting puns.

“I think it captures a certain spirit of contemporary culture,” he added.

“I am not commending it as a way to think, but the song sums up a particular way of seeing the world which is very common, which is confused and afraid but also confident.

“I think she has captured something of the spirit of the age there.”

Other material recommended for the course includes the Neil Diamond song Pretty Amazing Grace and clips from Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King.

Prime Minister David Cameron said last year he had stopped his daughter from listening to Lily Allen because he was concerned some of her lyrics were “unsuitable” for a six-year-old.

CROONER Lily Allen will star in her own reality TV show, Channel 4 bosses have announced.
Filming has already started on the fly-on-the-wall series, which will follow Lily as she launches her new clothing range, Lucy In Disguise.

It is due to air early next year.

A crew will follow the brunette, 24, as she designs and promotes the line, which is a joint project with her half-sister Sarah Owen.

Lily – who has been famously outspoken in slating other warblers and TV figures over the years – recently announced she is giving up on her music career.

A Channel 4 spokeswoman told TV Biz: “It’s early days but Lily’s show is being filmed already. It will tell all about her experiences as she starts on her own fashion boutique.”

But the line is not Lily’s first foray into fashion.

She worked on a collection of summer dresses and other outfits for high street chain New Look three years ago.

Lily’s latest course mirrors that of X Factor judge Dannii Minogue.

The 38-year-old mum-to-be is also being followed around by a filming crew as she launches her own clothing line Project D.

But Dannii can rest assured as her series will pip Lily’s to the post when it going out later this year on ITV2.

Lily Allen has confirmed she’ll be appearing on the same line-up as Jay-Z at the Wireless Festival in July.

The rap star said that he wanted to sing with Lily Allen after hearing her perform at last week’s Brit Awards.

The Smile singer had previously said she’d be taking a career break after her concert at London’s O2 Arena with Dizzee Rascal in March.

The Wireless festival takes place in London’s Hyde Park between Friday 2 July and Sunday 4 July.

It’ll also see performances from Pink, The Temper Trap, Gossip, The Ting Tings and Mr Hudson.

The news of Lily Allen’s appearance is a turnaround for the singer, who told Radio 1′s Sara Cox in December that she wanted to take time off.

She said she wanted to start her own record label, set up a fashion shop with her sister and spend more time at home.

Lily Allen won the best British female award at this year’s Brits and also sang her single The Fear.

At the awards, Jay-Z admitted he was keen to be on the same stage as her.

Jay-Z said: “I spoke to Lily Allen. I’m trying to get her for Wireless. Hopefully that goes through.

“I bum-rushed them in the corner where they can’t say no.

“I know her for a minute,” he added. “I think she’s a great artist I respect her. We just haven’t [collaborated] yet.”

Ahead of Wireless, Jay-Z will play Manchester’s MEN Arena on Monday 7 June and the LG Arena in Birmingham on Wednesday 9 June.

He’s also headlining the Isle of Wight Festival on Friday 11 June.

As you may have noticed, LilyFan.net has been very rarely updated for over a month now, and I just want to apologise and let you all know that the site will be back to normal very soon. As I’ve now reached my final year at school, I’ve been very busy with so much coursework and what not, which lead to having no time for updating the site. I am gonna make time for the site, and I’m gonna try and update regularly with news and pictures from Lily, so don’t you worry yourselves!

Also, you may notice the new layout…I hope you like it! I tried to go with more of a simple look for this one, as you can tell from the CSS, which by the way, is still not finished and the sidebar is messed up majorly, but all will be normal soon!

P.S. You may have heard rumours and speculation in the press recently about Lily quitting music forever. I just wanted to mention that these rumours are not exactly true, and Lily’s spokesperson has confirmed she is not quitting pop music and is currently just focusing on the promotion from the latest album It’s Not Me, It’s You, and not the future in her career as a music artist.

A few days ago, Zac from Oh-Lily posted a new piece of information onto his website. He wrote: “Today, i received an email from Luca, an Italian Lily fan! He sent me an image that was sent out with a newsletter from EMI Italy, saying It’s Not Me, It’s You will be out on February 6, and it included a nice new photo!”. So thanks a bunch to Zac, and you can check out the image below (click for a bigger version).
